Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 26, 2026

1. Introduction

Allen Code Co LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") operates My Teachers Toolbox (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the Service, you consent to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

We collect information you provide directly to us, including:

  • Account Information: Name, email address, password, school name, grade level, state, and subjects taught
  • Profile Information: Teaching preferences, curriculum standards preferences
  • Payment Information: Billing address and payment method details (processed securely by Stripe)
  • Lesson Plan Data: Topics, standards, objectives, and other inputs for AI-generated content
  • Student Information: Student names, notes, goals, and other data you choose to enter (optional)
  • Communication Data: Newsletter content, parent communication templates, and team messages
  • Support Communications: Messages and feedback you send to us

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use our Service, we automatically collect certain information:

  • Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, time spent on the Service, lesson plans created
  • Device Information: Browser type, operating system, device type
  • Log Data: IP address, access times, referring URLs
  • Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use cookies to maintain your session and preferences

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Process transactions and send related information
  • Generate AI-powered lesson plans and educational content based on your inputs
  • Send you technical notices, updates, security alerts, and support messages
  • Respond to your comments, questions, and customer service requests
  • Monitor and analyze trends, usage, and activities
  • Personalize and improve your experience
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent or unauthorized activities

4. How We Share Your Information

We may share your information in the following circumstances:

4.1 Service Providers

We share information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf:

  • Supabase: Database hosting and authentication
  • Stripe: Payment processing (no classroom or student data)
  • Vercel: Website hosting
  • OpenRouter: Routing of AI text generation requests to the model providers below
  • DeepSeek: AI content generation (lesson plans, newsletters, emails, Emergency Toolkit documents)
  • Perplexity: Standards search and alignment
  • Groq: Voice transcription, when you use a voice feature
  • OpenAI: Text embeddings only, used to make your own saved material searchable
  • Google: Google Drive, and only for users who choose to connect it. A document is sent only when you save that document to your Drive. See our Student Data Policy for the exact permission requested

These providers are bound by contractual obligations to keep your information confidential and use it only for the purposes for which we disclose it to them.

4.2 AI Processing

When you use our AI features, the inputs you supply for that request (such as lesson plan topics, standards, and objectives) are sent to the provider handling it — in most cases DeepSeek by way of OpenRouter, Perplexity for standards search, or Groq for voice transcription. Each provider processes that data according to its own privacy policy.

We do not attach your student roster, your saved student records, or any other stored data to an AI request; only what that specific tool needs is sent. Student personally identifiable information (PII) therefore reaches an AI provider only if you type it into that request yourself. We do not use your content, or your students' information, to train any AI model. See our Student Data Policy for a fuller explanation.

4.3 Team Collaboration

If you use our team features, information you choose to share (such as lesson plans or resources) will be visible to other members of your team. You control what you share with your team.

4.4 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or government agency).

4.5 Business Transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or uses of your information.

5. Google Drive and Google User Data

Connecting Google Drive is entirely optional. Nothing in this section applies to you unless you choose to connect it, and you can disconnect at any time from Settings → Privacy.

5.1 What We Request

We ask Google for two permissions and no others:

  • See, edit, create and delete only the specific Google Drive files you use with this app (drive.file). This is Google’s narrowest Drive permission. It grants access only to files this app itself creates in your Drive. We cannot see, open, search or list any other file in your Drive — not files you created yourself, and not files created by any other app.
  • Your Google account email address(userinfo.email). We request this for one reason: so we can show you which Google account is connected. Without it, a teacher who connected a personal account by mistake would have no way to tell.

5.2 What We Do With It

When you choose “Save to Google Drive” on a document, activity or week plan, our server builds that one file and uploads it to your Drive as a Google Doc. The upload is the only Drive operation we ever perform. We do not read files back, we do not browse your Drive, and we do not modify or delete anything after it is created — the file is yours from that moment on.

We never send your Google user data to an AI provider, and we never use it to train any model.

5.3 What We Store

To keep the connection working between visits, we store:

  • Your Google refresh token, encrypted. It is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before it is written to our database, using a key held only in our server environment. Anyone reading the database without that key sees unusable ciphertext.
  • Your Google account email address, so we can show you which account is connected.
  • The permission you granted, and the dates you connected and last used the connection.

We do not store the contents of any file we create in your Drive, and we keep no copy of it after the upload completes.

5.4 Disconnecting

Disconnecting from Settings → Privacy revokes our access with Google and then deletes the stored connection, including the encrypted token. You can also revoke access directly from your Google account permissions page. Files already saved to your Drive are yours and are not affected — disconnecting does not remove them.

5.5 Limited Use

My Teachers Toolbox’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically, we do not transfer Google user data to others except as necessary to provide or improve this feature, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets with notice to you; we do not use Google user data for advertising; we do not allow humans to read your Google user data unless we have your affirmative agreement for specific messages, it is necessary for security purposes such as investigating abuse, to comply with applicable law, or the data has been aggregated and anonymised; and we do not use Google user data to develop, improve or train generalised artificial intelligence or machine learning models.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the Service. We will retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except for information we are required to retain for legal or legitimate business purposes.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:

  • Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Encryption of data at rest
  • Secure password hashing
  • Regular security assessments
  • Access controls and authentication

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

8. Your Rights and Choices

7.1 Access and Update

You can access and update your account information at any time through your account settings.

7.2 Data Export

You can export your data (lesson plans, student information, etc.) through the settings page in your account.

7.3 Account Deletion

You can request deletion of your account by contacting us at support@myteacherstoolbox.com. We will delete your account and associated data within 30 days of your request.

7.4 Email Communications

You can opt out of promotional emails by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any email. You cannot opt out of transactional emails related to your account or subscription.

7.5 Cookies

Most web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, but this may affect the functionality of the Service.

9. Student Data and FERPA

If you are a teacher using our Service and input student information, you acknowledge that:

  • You are responsible for obtaining any required consents before entering student data
  • You should only enter student information that is necessary for using the Service
  • You are responsible for compliance with FERPA and any applicable state student privacy laws
  • We act as a "school official" with a "legitimate educational interest" under FERPA

We do not use student data for advertising or marketing purposes. We do not sell student data. We only use student data to provide the Service as directed by you.

10. Children's Privacy

Our Service is designed for adult educators and is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@myteacherstoolbox.com, and we will delete such information.

While teachers may enter limited student information for educational purposes, students themselves should not create accounts or directly use the Service.

11. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have certain rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • The right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose
  • The right to request deletion of your personal information
  • The right to opt out of the sale of your personal information (we do not sell personal information)
